This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to audit a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) against ISO 22000:2018 in accordance with ISO 19011.

Course Details

The ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System Auditor training course provides the knowledge and skills required to perform first and second party audits of FSMS against ISO 22000:2018, in accordance with ISO 19011, as applicable. ISO 22000:2018 specifies requirements for a food safety management system for any organization in the food chain and integrates HACCP principles, risk-based thinking, communication, and prerequisite programs to ensure safe food products and services across all stages from production to consumption.

The course uses discussions, exercises, and case studies so that participants can consolidate their understanding and gain hands-on experience needed for effective FSMS audits and food safety management in line with ISO 22000:2018. Participants who pass the continuous assessment and the examination will be awarded a Certificate.

To accommodate your individual learning preferences and requirements, this course is offered in two formats: Classroom-Based or Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT). Depending on your chosen format, the course can be conducted over 3 or 5 days, or it can be delivered in shorter online sessions. The course culminates with an examination.

Prerequisites

Before starting this course, you are expected to have the following prior knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the following food safety management principles and concepts:
    • The relationship between food safety management, organizational objectives, and stakeholder needs along the food supply chain.
    • Commonly used food safety terms and definitions and the fundamental concepts in ISO 22000, including the process approach, PDCA cycle, and risk-based thinking.
    • The FSMS framework and the process approach used in management systems, including application of the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle.
    • The model of a process-based Food Safety Management System, including the structure and content of ISO 22000:2018 (harmonized structure, clauses 4 to 10).
    • Basic understanding of food safety hazards, prerequisite programs (PRPs), operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs), and critical control points (CCPs).
  • Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 22000:2018.
